Although there were fewer drivers on the road in the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of traffic fatalities jumped by 7.2 percent from 2019—hitting the highest number of fatalities since 2007. Unsafe driving practices are much to blame for this uptick in fatal crashes.
